As a soap maker, I’ve always loved crocheting my own washcloths to use with my soaps! This Pattern is very simple and perfect for a beginner, the only stitches used are single crochet and chains. It really is such a simple pattern and its my go-to washcloth pattern. Also, this wash cloth is super gentle and perfect for little ones, and faces, making it an excellent baby shower gift!
The soaps in the photographs are also handmade by me, and if you love natural handmade soaps you can buy some from my Etsy HERE
This cloth is 8 inches by 8 inches, but you can make it as big as you want by making a chain any length as long as you have an even number of chains. The pattern is a single repeated row of single crochet 1, chain 1, and you’ll always insert your hook into the top of a single crochet from the previous row. you are NOT working in the chain spaces like you would with the moss stitch.
Lets get started!
- 5mm Crochet Hook
- Any worsted weight cotton yarn
- Scissors to cut the yarn when you’re done
- Yarn needle to weave in your ends
Stitches Used and Abbreviations
- sc – Single Crochet
- ch – Chain
- st – Stitch
Row 1: ch 38, sc in second ch from hook, *ch 1, skip one, sc in next ch repeat from * to the end of the row. TURN
Row 2-36: ch 1, sc in first st, *ch 1, skip 1, sc in next st, repeat from * to the end of the row.
And then you’re all done, it’s as easy as that!
