About

I am Alyvia, the writer and creator of DandyLemon. A blog where I post crochet patterns and blog posts about soap making and any other diy projects I’m working on.

I am 20 years old, and an Air Force spouse, I was married September 23, 2018. I grew up in a military family, my father was in the Air Force for 24 years before he retired, I had a stay at home mom and family who always supported me and my interests and made sure I had every resource I could ever need to fuel my desire to constantly be learning.

I started crocheting when I was only 10 years old, fell in love, and I’ve been doing it ever since! I rotate in and out of different stylistic phases, sometimes I’ll spend a couple months in an amigurumi phase, and sometimes I just can’t stop making and designing beanies!

I also rotate between different hobbies of mine that I love, crochet, soap making, art, or building, really anything I can do and make with my hands! I had made an attempt at cosmetology but it wasn’t long before I realized that I didn’t care for doing hair, I just wanted the SCIENCE and so I found myself looking for an alternative.

Soap making appealed to me at a young age, at first because I love the texture and feel of a good bar of soap, and then, as soon as I looked a little deeper I found SCIENCE YES!

The name DandyLemon actually came from a soap I was making that was made with dandelion oil, and lemongrass, and I just thought the word I came up with was TOO CLEVER to be just a soap name, besides the fact that “dandy!” is my go to response to the question “how are you doing?”

This blog was born from a desire to make a living that enjoy. By using my knowledge and nerdy love of science and studying (and crochet MATH yuck!) and artwork and creation, I can share that information and those creations with you!
